Rare (1) Owner 1971 Detomaso Pantera "PULSANTE" purchased new by Royce Kershaw Jr. VIN#THPNLE01369. Chassis #THPNLE01379. One of 75 very early production push button cars sold in the U.S.
351 CI OHV V8e engine. Single 4 barrel Holley 700CFM Carburetor. 310bhp @ 400rpm. 5 Speed Manual Transmission. 4 Wheel Independent Suspension. 4 Wheel Disc Brakes.
This car is in original condition and shows 12,723 miles. It features its factory original 351 Cleveland engine. 1971 is the first year production for this highly desirable collector car. The Pantera was manufactured by De Tomaso and is a sleek powerful Italian American collaboration. The first Pantera's produced were all completed at the famous Vignale coachworks.
This Pantera was one of the first 27 imported to the U.S. for sale by Lincoln Mercury dealers. Initially planned for the European market, Ford finally agreed to send 75 to the United States. Upon purchase, Mr Kershaw sent the car to "Holman & Moody", a well known race shop in Charlotte, North Carolina for performance modifications. Copies of the Holman & Moody invoices along with a nice package of correspondence between Royce Kershaw and executives with Ford Motor Company and an original Pantera brochure are included. The early production car features Campagnolo magnesium wheels with the De Tomaso 'T' on each lug nut, De Tomaso, not Ford emblems and handmade bumpers. The first De Tomaso Pantera's were literally "Hand Built".
The car cranks and runs but does have a leak in the original gas tank. It needs to be removed and professionally repaired. A small capacity aluminum fuel tank in the trunk is currently being utilized to make it run. The vehicle has some small dents/scratches (see photo's) that have happened from being stored inside the old warehouse for years.
Alabama Bill of Sale only and a copy of an Alabama registration are included.
